This meditation is inspired by the crafty creative smith and artisan - Hephaestus.
Hephaestus was an immortal and the child of Hera and Zeus. Hera took one look at her less than perfect new born babe and in disappointment and disgust she threw him from Mount Olympus. The fall injured Hephaestus’ already unGodlike body permanently damaging his legs causing a life long limp. Hephaestus was found and raised by a couple of nymphs who encouraged him to continue to develop his skills in smithing. Hephaestus created magnificent one of a kind swords, jewelry, furniture, sculptural pieces fit only for the Gods. Everything he created was sublime, intricate, detailed and magnificent. Hephaestus came up with a cunning revengeful plan to pay his mother back for her rough treatment by creating a spectacular chair that trapped Hera into it unable to move. Try as the other Gods might, only Hephaestus could release her from the chair’s grip. This cunning scheme saw him earn his mother’s respect and Hephaestus returned to his birthplace at Mount Olympus even picking up Aphrodite as his wife.
